When going throw the process of which program we were going to use as a group to design out ancillary tasks, we contemplated a number of different programs.I downloaded the program Adobe Design which I tried to use to make some advert, but after having some goes with this I decided it would be best to stick with what I actually knew how to use rather than trying to learn how to work a new program.
The program which we used to design all of the adverts and digipak for that matter, was Microsoft Publisher, we used this at as for a our magazine advert so we were very used to using this program to produce a good standard of work.
When thinking of the advert we actually need to consider what we want to achieve from the actually advert.
Four main aims which we wanted to try and achieve within the advert are:
- Standing out: we want to make the advert eye catching, so if someone was looking through a news paper, magazine or going past a poster we want to actually make them stop and be interested by the actual advert.
- Put across the artist: This is key when trying to produce an advert, we need to make sure that it is clear that we are trying to produce an advert for the artist and make them standout.
- Sense of Realism: we wanted to have a sense of realism and making it look professional when producing our advert, such as including logos and having reviews on the advert.
- Theme Running Through Ancillary Tasks: We wanted to do this because it would give a people a better idea of the link between the Digipak and the Advert.
When producing the adverts we decided that we were going to use one image for them because this portrayed the artist in the best way possible. Also within the photo we included the guitar because we believe that this is a big part of the genre itself, because we are trying to emphasise the idea of singer/song writer and acoustic music.
Here is the image which we are planning to use for our advert, however are trying to see what other images look like when producing the advert.
The reason why we like this image so much is because we think it does the aim to portray the feelings and emotions of the artist. We also all agreed that the image fit in well the the genre of music which we have selected, so this is a huge positive.
As you can see from the advert screen shots above for drafts of the advert we tried to bring all everything that we think would look good, so when we looked at the drafts when they were made we would see what worked well and what didn't work to well.
